  1. It's difficult to write about pronunciations in a way that will make sense to both Brits and Americans. The US pronunciation of "pasta" may sound like "POSS-ta" to Americans, but it doesn't sound like that to Brits.

    PAHSS-ta might be a better way to represent it.

  2. I go back and forth on this one. With PAHSS-ta, I feel you have the same problem, only in reverse. Brits may think the American pronunciation sounds like PAHSS-ta, while the Americans hear POSS-ta.
