I've often heard it said that everything sounds more intelligent in a British accent. And so, I wanted to put this notion to the test by reciting something quite ridiculous using my own particular brogue. The question was, what should this quite ridiculous thing be? I stopped looking the moment I found the lyrics to a 2011 Luke Bryan song called Country Girl (Shake it for Me).
As far as I can tell, Luke Bryan is a popular country singer in the United States. As such, the song in question appears to have been equally popular, in spite (or because) of the fact that it includes devastatingly sensual lyrics such as "shake it for the catfish swimming down deep in the creek."
I cannot say with any degree of certainty whether my experiment worked. In fact—given that the video probably makes me look light a complete burk—I am almost entirely certain it did not work. As ever, though, I'll let you be the judge.
