A Brit in Wrigleyville: Cubs Win the World Series

In  what has to be one of the most surreal moments of my life, last night I joined hundreds of Chicagoans on the streets of Wrigleyville as the Chicago Cubs - a team famous for its continued failures - landed the World Series for the first time in 108 years.

It continues something of a lucky trend for me: in 2007, I visited Indianapolis for the first time; the Colts won the Super Bowl that same year. In 2011, I attended my first ever MLB game at the home of the St. Louis Cardinals; the Cardinals went on to win the World Series that same year. This year, I moved to Chicago.

Laurence Brown is a British man writing his way through the truly bizarre world of America - a place he sometimes accidentally calls home and a place he still hasn't quite figured out after seven years. Thankfully, his journey is made 12% easier by the fact that his accent makes him sound much smarter than he is. For evidence of this, subscribe to his popular Lost in the Pond web series over on YouTube.
