A Brit's Memory of Florida | Remembering America

Join me as I offer a retrospective look-back on my time in the different states and cities I've already been to. In this episode, I will recount the rather dramatic tale of my first visit to the United States, when my family took a holiday to Florida.

Visiting All 50 States: I'm Gonna Need Some Dosh

As many of you know, I recently set myself the ridiculously optimistic goal of visiting and documenting all fifty states by the end of the decade. I have almost everything I need for the journey: trains, a camera, this book, my wife, blind ambition. The only thing I don’t have... is money. Perhaps you can help.

A Brit's Memory of New York | Remembering America

Chicago's St. Patrick's Day Parade - Video Montage

This past weekend, my wife and I attended our first St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chicago. We had what my American counterparts would call "a blast" but, because I've been snowed under with work (literally at times), a full-on video narrated by my irresistibly dreamy voice was just slightly beyond me. So instead, I took some photos, composed some music, and made an impromptu music video. I hope you enjoy it! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Will you join me on this long, arduous, and utterly naive journey?

Sometimes, I think we all need a quick reminder of that. Here are 6 Reasons I Actually Love Living in the USA.

A View From The Farce Side: Planes, Trains, or Automobiles

Flying, frequent flying, like taking a flight every few weeks as I tend to do for work, is a strange phenomenon for most English people. England is small—fitting into America’s largest state, Alaska, more than 10 times—so flying from one end of the country to the other isn’t commonplace. In America we do it all the time, particularly out west.

Britain Versus America: Knowing Your Hair Terms

It’s not every evening I get to perform Google searches for “women’s hair accessories”—usually just Saturday evenings when the wife is out. But this past weekend, I had genuine, research-based motivation for doing so: it occurred to me that there is an oddly high number of hair terminological differences between Britain and America.

British Expat: 5 Things I Absolutely Miss About Britain

Don't get me wrong: living in America has been an indescribably fruitful experience. From the dazzling mountains of Colorado to the cityscape of Chicago, the United States is a profoundly beautiful place and I feel lucky for every single day of my residence here. Well, almost every day; I once had gastroenteritis. That wasn't pleasant.
